I've mentioned this before but not had any feedback; here's some further info. I get the feeling that this may be related to the default use of UTF-8 in Psyche, but the LANG=C fix mentioned in the release notes doesn't help.
Simply, a TrueType font that I've correctly installed won't work in some apps. xfd shows it correctly, but OpenOffice (maybe a law unto itself) and gimp 1.3 fail. Someone with Debian unstable can see it function perfectly in gimp-1.3, with the same vn. nos. of linked libraries (pango, gtk, etc.).
I get, upon selection on the font:
** (gimp-1.3:4140): WARNING **: Unable to load unicode charmap from font file /usr/local/fonts/downloadfreefonts-ttf/blobs___.ttf
** (gimp-1.3:4140): WARNING **: Unable to open font file /usr/local/fonts/downloadfreefonts-ttf/blobs___.ttf for font Blobs 18, falling back to /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1/UTBI____.pfa
Any thoughts, anyone?
