Booting on external Disk (USB drive)

Hello,   I’ve got a laptop and I plan to install RedHat 8.0 on an external Disk connected on a USB 2.0 port. Then I want to boot from “ad-hoc” CD.   Burning the CD is OK, but is the external Disk supported ? Did anybody already try this ?   Thanks,   Jerome
