After upgrading to RH 8.0, I am once again getting messages that ppp-compress-21 can not be located. In prior releases, this was fixed by an alias statement to bsd_comp, but bsd_comp.o was not created during installation of either the 2.4.18-14 or 2.4.18-18.8.0 kernels.
However, RH 8.0 aliases ppp to ppp_generic, and no longer requires aliases for ppp-compress-24, and ppp-compress-26, so things have obviously been restructured in this release.
