Problem with virtual consoles

I had a problem with RedHat 8.0, when i try to use virtual consoles (CTRL+ALT+[F1-F7]), the X window reduce it size and freeze up, and I can olny back to X pressing CTRL+ALT+F8. How can I solve this problem?.
