Hello all,

I want to startup an application at X startup. I always get into X from the console with the startx command. Doing a bit of research, I find that the best place should be .xinitrc.

But when I checked the system default .xinitrc, it seems to lookup in Xclients for applications to launch.

So I wonder : Should I put the command for application in .xinitrc or should I put it in XClients ?

Also on a same note, I wonder whether I must copy to my personnal directory the whole file with an added line for my application to start or can I just have a file in my personnal directory (.xinitrc or Xclients) with the command to launch the application , the rest of the configuration being read in the system wide defaults file ?

Thanks in advance,
