Hi,

It could be the RPM freezing bug, and your rpm database can be
corrupted.

1 - Verify that you have no rpm process or up2date process running (ps
-ef | grep rpm ; ps -ef | grep up2date )

2 - root : If any, kill them (kill -9 ...)

3 - cd /var/lib/rpm ; rm __db.* 

4 - rpm -rebuilddb 

5 - wait until finish (1 mn) and launch up2date again.

This could work...or freeze again. If this does not work, somebody else
can help ... or maybe you could try the redhat-network mailing list
also.
