After switching the cables, I attempted to boot up and got nowhere.  So
I booted in rescue mode and attempted to run the grub-install.  After a
couple of failed attempts, I have switched the drives back to the
original configuration.  I can boot into Psyche, but M$ is not booting.
Which gives me a reason to trash that hard drive and start over on it.

Probably yes.  Did you run grub-install /dev/hda after switching the
drives?
