MTRR == Memory Type Range Register

MTRR's are used to mark a portion of memory as write combined, 
uncacheable, cacheable, write protect, etc...

They are used in particular by XFree86 to set up the video
framebuffer as a write combined region in order to get up to a 
2.5 or so boost in performance with writes to the framebuffer.

It isn't clear from your message what exactly it is you are 
wanting to do, so I can't really advise you.
