For what it's worth, I have been using RH Linux for the past four months as my desktop OS. I used nothing but GNOME for my GUI. Upon hearing that Red Hat released 8.0, I eagerly downloaded the new OS last Thursday (I think it was Thursday), made my CDs, backed up whatever I needed to back up, and did a clean install.
While I found the look of GNOME 2.0 to be nicer than the previous version, the difficulty I encountered configuring the Metacity windows manager to my liking caused me to abandon GNOME in favor of KDE (which only got a peripheral use from me previously), so that I could configure the look/feel better to my liking. I don't know if it was UI design (or lack of attention to it) that caused this seeming increase in complexity of configuration, or if this type of functionality will be added later, however, it does seem a bit more complex to configure. In deference to the hard-working folks at Red Hat, it could very well be the fact that I'm missing some otherwise obvious bit of documentation, also, that will help me in my configuration efforts. (If any of you out there know where I can find some info on this, I will be extremely thankful for it). Just my $0.02.
