The protobuf package does not come with native javascript support. (Instead
only c++, java, py are in the official distribution.)
Closure-library does include a package called goog.proto2 which (along with
backend support and some build system glue) can be used to share protobufs
between client (in JS) and server (in another language). However a decent
chunk of lifting needs to be done for such a setup to work.
