Python, as it is a popular, powerful, and growing language. It is also
very easy for VFP developers to pick up, as it has many of the same qualities,
such as dynamic typing and a choice between OO and procedural code.

I would, of course, also recommend the Dabo framework. This will make
the transition much easier for experienced VFP developers, as we're both
long-time VFPers ourselves, and know how important access to data and ease of
data manipulation can be.
