The XP license comes with XP Mode for Windows 7 Professional or higher, and 
there is no additional out of pocket costs
for the download. Piece of cake to set up and it works well for FoxPro DOS 
apps. I use it regularly to help support our
customers.

As for using an old XP license in a different virtual technology, that depends 
on how it was purchased and what the
licensing states. It may be licensed to the machine by the OEM. It is not 
always clear how the license can be used. But
don't rely on my advice as I am developer, not a licensing guru or a lawyer, 
and did not read the terms you or your
customer accepted when you initialized the computer. {g}
