Hi Dave,

So you were impacted by the seat which tossed you up and backward - 
probably breaking your pelvis, and then by the ground when you came down.

In the smart you would have just been squashed against the steering 
wheel and dashboard. Bad deal no matter what.

I like Kevin's modulator idea. I have been stopping well into the 
intersection when I am first up - at the edge of the traffic flow, can't 
do anything when you aren't.

If lane splitting were legal in Florida I would stop between the cars. 
May start that anyway.

I am 66, my number is damn near up no matter what. Had to give up my 
truck because of the cost. Didn't want to stay home all the time so I 
got the bike.

I was rear-ended in the truck waiting to turn left and hurt so badly I 
had to retire from acupuncture practice. Woman claimed she didn't see 
me, asked if I had my blinker on. I had the blinker on, but if I hadn't 
the truck was 7' 2" high and 8' wide.
