Not exactly. As I understand it this happens if you use the 'Sync
Facebook Contacts' option on iPhone or similar. It will pull all your FB
contacts in, fine. The problem is that it will also upload contact
details from your phone to the FB servers. It then checks the numbers
and if it finds a match with a FB user who isn't on your friends list
you will get a suggestion to 'friend' them. So it's using that data to
extend the network. It *does* mention that this will happen apparently
(can't check, no Apple mobile walled garden for me thanks) but how many
people will bother reading that ?
