Just upgraded some users in my office to Office 2007. Was having them do Windows Update (easy!) to get the latest service pack and other patches. Found that this was a BAD idea. Updates for EACH computer (5) basically choked our internet throughput and so it didn't download the updates quickly. Several users had to abort the update. (They turn off and lock up their laptops nightly. Security is a big deal around here as there were thefts in the past. But I digress.)
I googled "saving Windows Update files locally" and found 2 tools: WUTool and AutoPatcher. Wanted to ask if anyone has comments on these tools and/or could offer other suggestions as to this issue. All users are Windows XP Pro. Thanks in advance! --Mike _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[email protected] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
