Hi everyone
Here’s what I’ve got two days ago: Dear MVPs (in BCC), Introduction · I would like to share some early information with you on future changes to the MVP Award that directly affect your award expertise. Beginning January 2011, we will no longer be awarding MVPs in the following expertise: · .NET Micro Framework · Driver & Kernel Development · DShow/Media Foundation · FrontPage · Money · Printing and Image · Update Services · Visual FoxPro · Visual J# · Windows Live Platform As you probably know, the areas of technical expertise for which we offer the MVP Award continually evolve. This change is part of a larger program update to better align with Microsoft strategies for supporting technical communities and current product roadmaps. This change does not affect your current MVP award, which will continue until your regular award expiration date. Unfortunately, at the end of your award year we will no longer be able recognize your community contributions related to the above expertise. I recommend that we begin to discuss other Microsoft technologies in which you are passionate and contributing as a community leader. This will allow us to easily identify other areas of technical expertise for which you may qualify to receive an MVP Award in the future. Please let me know if you have any questions about these changes and, if there is anything I can do to help make your current award year a great experience, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I’m looking forward to discussing other technologies in which you may have an interest. You can read about all the upcoming program changes planned for January 1, 2011, in the below program announcement. Background Through the MVP Award, we continually evaluate technology trends to make sure our program stays current with the needs and interests of technical communities around the world, as well as Microsoft strategy. Recently we worked with business and product groups across Microsoft to determine technologies which have demonstrated significant activity in communities and align with Microsoft’s product roadmap. We identified several communities which are evolving in response to emerging technology trends and some which are no longer poised for robust community involvement. As a result, we are adding and retiring some MVP Award expertise, as well as combining and renaming some in order to better support the MVP award experience in these areas of expertise moving forward.
