I belong to a referee email list, and generally people on that list are
loathe to criticize our brethren, since we all know that a) we've made
mistakes, too and b) what you see on the pitch is not at all what the camera(s)
see.
Until today, that is. I've never seen such overwhelming criticism of
that ref's overall performance in general, and that call in particular. And
this is an international list, with many refs outside of the USA.
