Having transitioned from software dev work to mostly IT/Administration about 6 years ago, I see more and more just how ignorant people still are about using computers in their daily lives. I don't expect people to know how to crawl around in the registry or know what a domain name is, but stuff like mouse/keyboard connections, rebooting the machine when having problems, just all that day-one basic stuff all of us take for granted.... I didn't have much to do with computers until I was 17 back in 1978 or so, but even my 17 year old step-daughter who's pretty much grown up around the things still doesn't have the slightest clue what it is these machines actually do... she freaked one time because the computer died, when in fact the monitor was just turned off.....
