Well, if a person senses he has fallen into sin, which the Spirit
convicts him about pretty quickly, he has to repent. Not just say,
"I'm sorry, won't do it again," but really, in his heart, commit to
overcome it.

It's unrepented sin that gets us into trouble. Early on in our
Christian walk, it's rather easy to fall flat on our face into the
same sins. Christ is patient to forgive so long as we truly repent,
and don't just go through the motions as if to justify their
sinfulness.

Which is why I focus on Christ, and not what this or that church or
even saint has said/done.

Scripture testifies of Him, but nothing beats getting to know Him, as
it were, personally. He doesn't live in a book but in hearts that open
up to his love.

"It ought never to be forgotten, that a firm union of this country,
under an efficient government, will probably be an increasing object
of jealousy to more than one nation of Europe; and that enterprises to
subvert it will sometimes originate in the intrigues of foreign
powers, and will seldom fail to be patronized and abetted by some of
them. Its preservation, therefore ought in no case that can be
avoided, to be committed to the guardianship of any but those whose
situation will uniformly beget an immediate interest in the faithful
and vigilant performance of the trust." [Federalist Papers #59]
