James,
I have just done the same convert to inkjet over the last few months and it
is so frustrating with the Epson printers that are good, granted, but the
heads clog up for fun if you don't use them on a regular basis. I went
through a set of brand new cartridges on a DX5000 when I tried to clean the
heads....yes 5 times and the cartridges are empty...and no printing!!! I
subsequently discovered that the cartridges only hold 3.5ml of ink!!!

However, I have overcome the problem of cost by buying a continuous ink
system for the DX which costs the price of a set of Epson cartridges but
holds 20-30 times the ink and is refillable at $4 per colour to refill the
containers to 100ml.

So, use it or loose it, and if you use it then take a look at CIS. OK the
external containers may not look brilliant but they result in ultra cheap
printing.

Subject: [NF] inkjet multi-function printer

I heard or read somewhere that these type of printers were making a
comeback, and that the quality was much better.

We'd like to get a new printer for home that will do color, and I was
thinking of a LaserJet, but maybe an inkjet would be an option.

Has anyone had a good experience with a MFP inkjet with a flatbed document
feeder option.
