What a coincidence, he's Obama's good friend, a "scholar" no less---and he's an opportunistic jackass. What actually surprises me (a little) is that Obama had what appeared to be a major amateur moment defending this Grade A asshole, right in the middle of his precious health care monologue. So much for avoiding 'distractions'. But maybe this too is thinking-inside-the-trapezoid. One gets the impression that underneath all the chalky fake charisma he's really a kind of gremlin or Joker-like character. He's just lighting every flame he can as fast as he can, to see what chaos will come of it. Someone noted to me recently how odd his laissez-faire attitude toward the actual health care legislation slogging through Congress has been, letting the Congress critters grind the sausage almost by themselves. Like a dog chasing a car that wouldn't know what to do with it once he caught it.
