I had been but then my VFP work has picked up so much that I haven't had
a chance to get back to it. I enjoyed my time learning RB when I was
working with it day in and day out.

I've found that REALbasic is an *easy* transition from VFP. Far easier
than anything that I've seen so far for the cross platform development
environments that work. REAL Software just released a version that
includes OpenGL calls which will make 2D and 3D graphics even faster.
The things coming up that are exciting to me is the built in report
writer (coming soon) and 64 bit support (coming but it's not immediately
sure when). Of course I think RB is great even with today's features.
It is object oriented unlike VB6's "object-oriented like". It has a
full IDE with a built in debugger.

Pros:
-- Object oriented
-- Cross platform compilation Win, Mac, Linux
-- Full IDE
-- Commercially supported
-- Debugger
-- Active 3rd party development tools and plugins
-- Reasonably priced (but not free and that might be a good thing)
-- Report writers available via 3rd parties
-- 64 bit programs sometime in the future
-- Continued development of the tool
-- No issues of licensing when developing commercial apps

Cons:
-- No built in report writer
-- Debugger not as good as VFP
-- Data handling not as good as VFP but not that bad either
-- Don't even try to use the HTML viewer control in Linux but in Win and
Mac it's good.
-- There are some bugs and issues
-- Bitchy / nitpicky developers in the forums. (Don't be haters! <bg>)

HTH,
Kevin
