I used to wonder when I was in high school studying the classics and in college studying political philosophy just how it was even possible that dictatorships "happened". Really, how could a people give power to one person? How does it happen that such people arise and manage to acquire "followers" willing to die and kill for them? Well, I never thought I'd get to see it happen in real time in my own life and in my own country. But here we are, in the early stages of just such a world-transforming event. Perhaps his fundamental incompetence will get the better of him and we'll all be spared my dire predictions.
