Water boarding is not torture. It's one of the most effective methods of
interrogation shy of torture, but it does not cross the line. Sure this is a
debatable point, but my considered opinion is that it is not torture.
Indeed, our marines are trained to endure it as part of their field
training. So if it's OK to train our troops to withstand this kind of
interrogation technique, why is it not OK to perform it on enemy combatants
who may have valuable intelligence that could prevent a civilian massacre
from happening?

How do you violate a Geneva convention against a band of thugs who defy
national and political allegiance, and themselves murder, rape, and torture?
It's an absurd standard.

Truth is, I don't like any of this. War sucks. But the manufactured outrage
over this was a political ploy designed specifically by our "loyal
opposition" when they were in the minority to damage the moral credibility
of our military and undermine support for our president, and it worked
fantastically at getting them put in office, and exacerbating the world's
jealousy and hatred of our success.

Far worse things than these you shall see under Obama, only they won't be
directed at terrorists, but rather our own people. Silencing of critics,
mass murder of innocents, and attacks on our privacy, our right to assemble
freely, and a whole lot more. (He's already signed an order that will let
federal $$$ flow to organizations that perform and promote abortions
abroad---so, I guess technically, he's already authorized murdering foreign
babies with taxpayer money.)

He is going right after privacy, freedom of press and religion, even in this
so-called "stimulus" bill, and what he and his party are doing to the
finances of our country make even Bush's most reckless financial decision --
and yes, he made many -- look prudent by comparison.

The "stimulus" alone -- which is 93% pork and not stimulus -- is already
twice the cost of both wars in Iraq and Afghanistan after five years, and
all it's about is creating a permanent class of unionized Democrat voters so
they can keep power indefinitely, not about reviving our free market system.

Some moral high ground, that.
