Grrr...

At 10:05 pm I'm still not receiving anything from leafe.com, not in the
webmail inbox or junk folder.

What follows is my chat with the Frontiernet online tech. God help me. I
never should have told him I have a POP client. Now they are going to
insist that my POP client is somehow losing the messages--even though I
check the webmail first before running the POP client.

from Kenneth Dibble to All Participants:
Today, no messages arrived anywhere in the webmail. I can confirm that 22
messages were sent to my address from leafe.com. This has nothing to do
with Eudora or my anti-virus. I am observing the problem entirely in the
webmail.

from Frontier Technical Support(4) to All Participants:
again. if he is not getting bounced emails, then there is nothing we can do

from Frontier Technical Support(4) to All Participants:
our server is not blocking him

from Frontier Technical Support(4) to All Participants:
you have no filter rules in webmail for his domain. it is not something on
our end

from Kenneth Dibble to All Participants:
Right, I have no filter rules in webmail for his domain, yet a whole bunch
of messages from his domain ended up in my junk folder--in webmail junk
folder--yesterday. So how did that happen if you are not blocking him?

from Kenneth Dibble to All Participants:
I know enough about anti-spam software to know that it can contain bugs
that can deposit email in the bit bucket without issuing a bounce message.
If you can't understand this, then please escalate this to a higher level
tech. This needs to be investigated.

from Frontier Technical Support(4) to All Participants:
if we were blocking him, it would have bounced back to him. the server
suspected it as spam and put it in junk, as it will do, as it does not
delete the email, or block it.

from Frontier Technical Support(4) to All Participants:
again, without further information, there is nothing we can do. I have
already informed the lead tech

from Kenneth Dibble to All Participants:
If I get a trace from him demonstrating that frontiernet accepted messages
from his domain today, and yet I did not get them in my webmail, then I
presume you will take that into consideration?

from Frontier Technical Support(4) to All Participants:
that actually shows that we are not blocking him and is not an issue with
our filter

from Kenneth Dibble to All Participants:
If Frontiernet accepts a message and yet it does not show up in my webmail,
that means there's a bug in Frontiernet's routing or antispam software. If
it's accepted, then you got it. You're then responsible for delivering it
to the webmail folder. If that doesn't happen, then it's an error on
Frontier's part.

from Frontier Technical Support(4) to All Participants:
it also can indicate that it was received by the computer and handled by
softwre or message rule on the receiving computer

from Frontier Technical Support(4) to All Participants:
you are refering to the address you posted, [email protected], corerct?

from Frontier Technical Support(4) to All Participants:
krdibble, sorry

from Kenneth Dibble to All Participants:
Yes. But this happens before I run the POP client. Just a few minutes ago,
I sent a message to the listserv. I then checked the listserv's web archive
to confirm it arrived there. Then I checked the Frontier webmail--it wasn't
there, not in inbox, not in junk. I didn't touch the POP client.

from Frontier Technical Support(4) to All Participants:
does the listserv log show that the last email was accepted by the frontier
server?

from Kenneth Dibble to All Participants:
That I won't be able to tell you until i communicate with the owner. What
I'll do is, I'll get him to give me a trace on that message.

from Frontier Technical Support(4) to All Participants:
you can do that and then email [email protected] with the info and
trace

from Kenneth Dibble to All Participants:
Okay. Thanks.
