The US twisted the rules set up after the first Gulf War to justify
the invasion. I believe that it has been more than amply demonstrated
that Iraq did not have the weapons programs we claimed warranted the
invasion. That original UN mandate expires at the end of this year,
which would mean that even the twisted view promoted by the Bush
administration would be moot.
