Sen. John McCain's 2006 demand for regulatory action on Fannie Mae and
Freddie Mac could have prevented current financial crisis, as HUMAN EVENTS
learned from the letter shown in full text below.

McCain's letter -- signed by nineteen other senators -- said that it was
"...vitally important that Congress take the necessary steps to ensure that
[Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac]...operate in a safe and sound
manner.[and]..More importantly, Congress must ensure that the American
taxpayer is protected in the event that either...should fail."

Sen. Obama did not sign the letter, nor did any other Democrat.

The full text of the letter appears below.

This is the one issue that causes my head to explode and it DOES have to do
with the economy.

The idea that Republicans caused this crises because they were opposed to
"common sense" regulation, lead by McCain, blinded by ideology, when in fact
the opposite is true, that they were insisting on it, and it was the
Democrats who opposed them because of their ideology (let's keep giving
houses to poor folk who can't afford them, this is great, rah rah rah)--but
not lead by Obama. This was in 2006. At that time the cheerleaders for what
future Obama advisor Raines et al. were doing at Fannie and Freddie were
Frank, Meeks and Maxine Waters. Obama was gearing up for his and Raila
Odinga's presidential campaigns at this point.

But, what does Kristyne or anybody care about these facts? They think Obama
has a cool "thinking style" that bespeaks wisdom, and so, outright lies like
this, deception about his real motives and political beliefs, all of that is
just la-la-la-la-la-la....
