The movie "Platoon" was mostly about the dirty side of the Vietnam war, thus it did not receive the blessing of the USA Armed Service, who will help a producer make a movie that reflects a more positive image by provided authentic weapons, APC, Air Force helicopters and planes, and otherwise helping in any way they can. Never-the-less, Platoon was a pretty good movie.
You should make plans to interrupt your movie or sleep to watch the Democratic Convention that airs at 9:00 PM central standard time tonight.
