MFYOYO (as is "See You Later MFYOYO") - <*My Friend*, You're On Your Own>

Of course there is another little term one could substitute for the "MF"
part of MFYOYO. I have seen this used by a few folks shortly after they
were asked to render an opinion, and the askee either refuted the opinion,
or a prospect decided to try to "do something on their own" that they were
not qualified to do. It is kind of crude, and reflects an attitude toward
prospects in the market that I do not tend to hold. Under my "Kinder,
Gentler" way of doing business I try to look at such matters as a prospect
or client just not yet understanding the gravity of what they are up
against, hence I did not do as good a job of pointing out the magnitude of
what they are about to get themselves into.

But, at times I do run into situations that become a kind of techie
"Unpardonable Sin", where I can't help a client or prospect because they
simply refuse to listen to my recommendations or warnings. So I have no
choice but to let them fall flat on their face, and subjectively be ready to
help scoop them up afterward - for a nominal fee of course.

The most recent example of a See You Later MFYOYO moment was when a
prospective dealership client decided to go out on their own and use Excel
to manage their DoNotCall list. Well, the phone numbers in their 5 selected
Area Codes was over 3.8 million records, and when I told them Excel simply
could not handle that many records they plowed ahead anyway. When they
found that indeed Excel failed to yield the results needed they moved to
Access. That too failed to do what they needed (little wonder - over a
network with multiple concurrent users, horrible performance). So that was
a double MFYOYO situation. They kept calling for "more advice", free
advice, and I kept telling them my VFP based solution would certainly do the
job for them, and more - but they wanted something for free and I was not
about to hand over the Keys To Gil's Evil Kingdom for free (they asked for a
"sample" of my code so they could "better understand what I was doing"). I
told them the shareholders of the corporation could never agree to such a
request (me 50%, Lynda 50%).

AFAIK they are still On Their Own, and I do not plan to call them
proactively to bail them out. I do not need the grief. I figure if they
are that bull-headed this early in the game, and think I am so stupid as to
hand over my hard earned Source Code for their direct benefit with Zero
compensation, they will always be pushing against me. I have clients who
appreciate my efforts that are easy to work with, and an abusive group like
that would simply consume time I could be using to help out "friendlies".
