No Eurico, all in the name of religion unfortunately. 

The same sort of rhetoric was used by the Roman Catholic Church in the
middle ages. 

It is just that the West is now the focus of a particular brand of hatred
that I simply have never been able to understand.

Marx was correct in saying that religion was the "opiate of the people". I
guess the west has hard drugs and the east has fanatical religion, both of
which are equally distasteful to the silent majority.

Having come from a religious background that on one hand preached gentleness
and tolerance and at a personal level was shown up to condone wife beating,
child abuse and other equally despicable acts carried out by my close
relatives who were ministers of the church I am glad that I have no
"organized religion" beliefs and prefer to trust my own human instincts of
caring and mutual respect - whatever a person's colour or creed. 

As a famous comic here in the UK Dave Allen used to say "May your God go
with you" as opposed to the organized religious belief that "You go with
your God".
