I'm the same way. I try to be green, but I want to hold something less than a pound in weight, and less than 9x11 in size to read. The technology is coming to allow that, but I'd still need to have unencumbered copies of the pdf that I could save in my digital library, and share with friends, before considering paying for a subscription. I'm not sure if the legal issues will get ironed out in my lifetime.
