I opened my first Apple box last December. A client purchased several Mac
laptops, and one iMac24. He asked me to come over and set the machines up,
and configure the WiFi to match his current encryption schema. I really
enjoy working with this client (all of my clients, in fact!), and scooted
over to his place with some slight reservation about how quickly I could
come up to curve on his Apple machinery. I trusted Ed's statements about
Macs over the years, and figured I could rely on his passion for "everything
Mac" to build my confidence base on.

Opening the iMac24 box, then removing the items inside, was truly a
near-religious experience. I was no less than stunned at the artistic
effort Apple went through to gain the First Good Impression of the End User
opening up their expensive machine's box for the first time. It smacked of
high quality workmanship and engineering with heartfelt caring by a company
that is obviously very proud of their product offering. It also served as
an affirmation of my client's good taste in choosing a Mac. Even my client
was impressed with the Apple packaging, to the point where he said he would
no longer wince at having left the Dark Side and going with a set of Macs -
despite the higher price to do so.

For me, before I even lit the iMac up I was calmed, and my anxiety about
learning a new OS began to fade. Once I got into the OS for a while, I was
hooked. The packaging on the outside is incredible. But the experience
inside eclipses even their external packaging. Awesome. Words are indeed
inadequate when trying to describe the experience.
