Michael - wasn't this posting supposed to be about contracting?
Typically an employee isn't a contractor, and vice-versa.
There are legal definitions of each, rarely do they intersect.

I'm with Ted on this one - there's a big gap between being a consultant
and a contractor. When I'm out on a consult, it's usually to find the way
for that client - to operate their business FASTER with an IT solution,
usually something in VFP or LAMP. I stopped doing contracting as a
'contractor' ages past, but I basically recall that when I was onsite as a
contractor? I did what ever the client told me to do, with no backtalk.
We MIGHT have a design review, MAYBE I'd throw up some design
considerations, but mostly I did what was pre-approved to do.

As to the 'employee' moniker - basically, IMO, the employee should make a
balance between 'do what I've been told' and 'always find the added value
in the business process'. But that's just my opinion, ya? Both of us have
worked for crappy employers in the past - I gave it up in its entirety -
the hassle was too big regardless of the perceived income stream.

Big PS to _Stephen - hey - whaddya think about taking one of their smaller
VB6 apps, something that deals with a database , and showing a prototype
in VFP? Then show the source code and how LESS source code it is to DO
STUFF with the data? (just a thought, I know the negative responses
already).

Warmest Regards [Bill]
