This is EXACTLY why my wife and I made the decision to not keep a 
spotless house.  It's for the health and immune system of our daughter.  
If were up to us, our house would look like Martha Stewart was our 
maid.  If we didn't have a daughter, we'd keep the house spotless, but 
we're sacrificing our urge to clean for her sake.

(I don't know what excuse we'll come up with when she goes to college, 
but that's at least a decade away for now.....)
