Actually, things are more like, "... there are evil-doers who have crept in, teaching deceit and all manner of untruths..."
There have been very few advancements in 'development approaches'. Most are repackaging and new terminology of things previously discovered and used. The same is true of most 'software technology'. So I say, question everything and never acquiesce to imprecise (and 'new') terminology without clear and precise explanation and demonstration. But alas, I fear we are far too past the point where using such reasoning is feasible.
