We are in the process of converting from DBF to SQL. This will allow us to continue to use the VFP front end UI until we can convert to .Net.
We are using West-Wind business objects for the middle tier. This allows us to run in DBF mode or SQL mode. In theory you just have to flip a switch to work in either data format but unfortunately there is much more work required, at least in our program. My request is if someone has done this, I'd like to hear some feedback about the project. It sounds like both companies will want a rewrite in the future. They are looking for information to know which route to take. Convert to SQL then write new modules, or just rewrite dealing with dbf issues.
