ISetupComponent::Pre/Post/Install() failed in
ISetupManager::InstallManagerHelper()" -- I found a couple of articles
with suggestions.
Thanks Ted. I looked at a couple dozen of these. The only thing that
seemed remotely relevant to a quick fix was downloading and
installing MDAC. Didn't help. I did come across a couple of really
bizarrely-translated Russian idioms, though. :)
For the record: this is my home machine, Win 7 SP 1 32-bit. It's the
second Win 7 machine I've installed VFP 9 on. The first one, at work,
same OS, was flawless and hasn't given me a lick of trouble. The
second one was done from the same media. So I doubt very much that
any of the solutions that point to bad/corrupted install media are relevant.
It's possible that it's MP3Gain that messed this up and not VFP. I
did all this over the holidays last winter and I can't honestly
remember if I tried to run the Code References tool in VFP on this
machine before I installed MP3Gain or not.
So this weekend I guess I will spend a couple hours picking worms out
of the registry and reinstalling and get this ironed out.
