Thanks Malcolm,

I was looking at the logmein site a minute ago and then I saw the 1188
dollar price tag and I said darn it <grin>

Subject: RE: [NF] GatherPlace vs. GotoMeeting for
onlinemeetings/presentations?

Virgil,

Free, open source:

- TightVNC
- Ultra VNC

The hassle with these products is that your remote customer may have
problems using these products from behind a firewall or router. Ultra
VNC has some plugins that may help with this - I think Tristian on this
list has gotten Ultra VNC to work across many environments.

If you're selling support, you might want to consider building a
pre-configured Ultra VNC setup that your customers can download. I think
it may be possible to proactively setup everything so your customer just
runs setup and they're ready to go. I also believe Ultra VNC has an
add-in that allows you to 'brand' the Ultra VNC program with your name
and graphic? As an aside, you could use the free Inno Setup to build
your customized setup. I've had this concept on my todo list for years
but haven't found the time to get started.

LogMeIn is a commercial service that offers a product that you might be
able to use for remote support. The advantage to the free logmein
product is that it should(?) work transparently across firewalls and
router setups.

The free product is buried on their site - here's a link that worked for
me in the past:
https://secure.logmein.com/go.asp?page=products_free#

Let us know what solution you end up using.

Malcolm
