If you had 2 versions of your software knowing full well that latest is
superior to earlier why would you want people to get the older version?

Our ERP vendor has issues with what frigin version of IE & java is loaded
to make their stuff work.  Absolute nightmare when someone has auto updates
for M$ also do the browser as well.
