New core 2 Duo chips are detailed at http://tinyurl.com/y2zsvw

Lenovo one with it is at http://tinyurl.com/ucxx6

There are probably more systems available but I would recommend the core
2 due as the power consumption is far less, hence the heat generated is
less, battery life is longer, weight is less and most importantly they
are seriously powerful.

is that "Core 2 Duo" ?

What would you recommend ? I'm specifically looking for (inter alia)

100GB + HDD
1680x1050 display (WSXGA+)
Min 1 GB RAM
Gigabit ethernet
Built-in Firewire
Plus all the usual stuff
