Graham, I have not had personal experience. I know others have worked with Telerik and other vendors controls. They all have the same conclusion. If they are not displaying the information exactly the way you want, you need to bleed out to get it to work, or find some other tool that does do it. My takeaway from all the pain others have had: If you are simply wanting to get something out, vendor controls work, they may not be very flexible. If you have a specific look you are wanting to reach, the vendor controls may not be the route you will take.
