How do you currently process the commands? Do you end up launching a BAT
file? 
Would it be possible to put those commands in a BAT file that launches when
you start the program(s)?

I'm not sure MODE stays with COM devices after processing. I have done very
little Serial port manipulation, and the last I worked with it was modems in
the early 90's.
