I gotta ask:  Any locking problems?

Not specific to SAMBA. I think I've only seen a file lock not get released on a SAMBA server due to a hard workstation crash once or twice in 8 years--and that was early on. It hasn't happened with the current box and SAMBA 3.x.

As for file contention, I didn't notice any difference with oplocks on or off on the SAMBA file server. Long experience has taught me that if there's going to be a significant number of concurrent users with dbfs, every attempt to write anything to a table needs to be wrapped in a TRY...CATCH retry sequence, or 108s and 1705s will abound. But that's not down to the server; it's inherent in the way VFP handles locks.
