That was not very professional on their part and a waste of your time. Have you logged a complaint about this? If not, I suggest that you do.

Thought I'd share that just in case anybody else gets the same.

The closest I ran into this sort of situation was an app of mine supposedly deactivating leads. There was no place in the system where the active flag was changed except in the code where the operator could deactivate a lead. I suspected (and still do suspect) that it was sabotage by a disgruntled employee.
