Dan,
I understand how it's supposed to work and it did work like that at one
point in time and works like that on other PCs, but I just can't get it
to do the "starts with" search any more. I just don't know what setting
controls whether it does a partial match or a full match.
Frank.

Odd result: If you type 'note' you won't find OneNote because the word
doesn't start with 'note'. Bizarre.

Hi,
in Windows 8, when you press the start button you can then start typing
the name of the program you want to run and you get a short list of
programs that match that search. This list used to refresh with every
key I pressed, but now it is only refreshing when I get a complete word
match.
For example, as I used to type "S" all programs with "s" in them would
get listed, if I then typed "q", all programs with "sq" in them would be
listed.
Now, if I type "s" I get nothing, "sq" also gives me nothing, but if I
search for "sql" I get SQL server and so on listed.
Anybody have any idea what setting I have inadvertently changed?
