... I was at DevCon in San Diego, along with a few hundred other Fox folk. The 
previous evening was, shall we say, quite enjoyable, with plenty of liquid 
refreshments consumed. I was as a result quite soundly asleep when my wife 
called me with the news that a plane had hit the WTC. In my grogginess I 
imagined a small two-seater airplane, but then she said that it was gone. I 
asked "The plane is gone?", and she replied "No, the World Trade Center tower 
is gone!". I don't think I have ever sobered up so quickly.

The rest of the conference was surreal, with all of us trapped at the hotel due 
to the grounding of all flights. You might think that was a sweet place to be 
stuck, but all I wanted to do at that point was find a way to get home to my 
kids.
