Since I first became unemployable in 2003, I have listened to all of

Yet I have not seen anybody attempt to buy Visual FoxPro from
Microsoft to take it into the next decade and further.

I believe that there is a way to revive it and it requires me to slap
Microsoft in the face.

Relax, I don't expect you to get anywhere near that part of it as I
willingly do it daily via Keep America At Work.

But I do want you to think about something.

I have a project that I want to build that is as big as facebook, or
even bigger.

And I want to develop it using Visual FoxPro and Foxweb, or West Wind,
or even a home brewed package if any of ya'll have one.

I have applied to Microsoft for a free BizSpark account so that I can
receive the necessary tools.

Today I heard back from them and I responded with this message.

Many of you will believe I am a fool, but I think a few of you might
understand that this is possible.

For them, I am interested in hearing whether you would be interested
in participating anonymously for a piece of the pie.

And if you are not interested in being anonymous, that is even better.

My letter to them follows:

---

I am a unemployed software developer.

I am forming the new business that I told you about titled
BuriedWhere.com
and I have just started work on MomAndPopAds.com which also is a new
business that will be developed to provide FREE Yellow Page ads to all of
the small, and large businesses that are looking for a better way to
advertise their business to Americans.

I had to wait until I received my funds from the GI BILL VRAP program
which
I received today to transfer my domain name from Godaddy.com to
Asmallorange.com

That has now taken place, and it will require about 15 days to happen
according to the email I received today which I have attached.

I do not have the $1,200.00 to purchase the MSDN subscription which I
need
to get a copy of Visual Foxpro and SQL Server and the necessary operating
systems.

Why do I need them?

Very simply, Microsoft has written off that technology just like it
has the
software developers in America that might not have a degree, but have
decades of experience, wisdom, and knowledge and I would prefer to beat
Microsoft using their own technologies rather than PHP/MySQL.

I want to develop Buried Where using Visual Foxpro and Foxweb by using
unemployable software engineers that Microsoft has turned its back on.

That way when it gets bigger than Facebook, I can go on national tv
and say
"Up Yours Microsoft" when they say that they cannot find qualified
candidates.

Please forward this to Steve Ballmer so that he can forward it to Bill
Gates.

I believe they are both up to the challenge.

If they are not, I will find another way to do my part to Keep America At
Work and I will continue to challenge them to a Duel that they have
yet to
respond to.

Holy Cow...Virgil...get real, man...I don't want to douse your flames but you seem to be totally out of touch with reality...sorry...just hate to see a fellow dev waste his efforts so obviously. I'd say that's got a 1:1,000,000,000 chance of succeeding.

Well, on that note...good luck if you persist on that path.
