Cross-platform development doesn't need to be difficult. All the apps I've 
developed
in the past 8 years have run on Linux, Mac, and Windows. Even if they only ever 
get
used on Windows, I make 'em cross-platform anyway because it comes for free.

I guess we may have different meanings of 'difficult', though. I like things 
simple,
so I code using the terminal and vim. I would find an IDE like Eclipse or Visual
Studio extremely difficult to use, and my productivity would tank.
