Hi guys, I have looked at all types of android development systems/IDE's over the last few months as I need to replace our PDA stock take system (C# Microsoft) which also needs some modifications. The most important reason to change however was the requirement to show more data than is possible on a small PDA screen.
Most of the IDE's I have looked at such as Eclipse and Titanium are all based on Java and involve some fairly steep learning/familiarisation times so, even though I have been using them I haven't really entered into any serious development. The good news is however, that I have found a product called Basic4Android that simply blows all others away as it is quick, easy and well supported and only costs 35 UK Pounds. In a day and a half I have cloned our PDA system to run on a Galaxy 7" tab and also an android phone such as the S3 and we will be testing it out during our Christmas stock take. it really is GOOD and all the libraries are there with a great support forum and willing developers. Most if all, development is really quick, especially if you have ever done Visual Basic 6. The language has full OOP support and loads of libraries to drive the camera, gps etc.. etc. and it is fast as it generates native Java code from the compiler. It also works with the Eclips system emulator so you can get a development system up and running quickly without any hardware. If anyone needs to generate Android apps quickly then this is the tool to use. I'll be putting up a blog about it soon. You can download the trial version which is completely unlocked but you can't use the additional libraries for attached devices or SQL Lite. http://www.basic4ppc.com/index.html Dave _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://mail.leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://mail.leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[email protected] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
