My new Galaxy S3 phone is just unbelievable and far, far betters the iPhone I changed it for (I've gon to the dark side). The apps available have improved out of all recognition since I bought my first Frodo 2.3 Android tablet and now I have everything on the S3 that I had on the iPhone but at no cost. Updates are totally seemless and even though I have had the phone only 3 weeks the changes in appearance and functionality to the O/S (all good I may say) have made the "experience" even better.
In addition to that the damned buttons on the scree are BIG which siuts me now I'm on the verge of becoming a 60 year old OLD FART! I had the choice of updating from the 3Gs iPhone to the 5 but there was just no difference at all apart from speed. As for data allowance, well on the iPhone it was only 750Mb which was crap and on the S3 it is totally unlimited and the contract is half the cost of what the iPhone was and I can tether my laptop/iPad to the S3 and not have to worry about data usage. To my mind, Android is moving on at a rate that Apple simply cannot compete with... oh and the Google voice app isn't a novelty on n the S3 like Siri is on the iPhone, it works and I use it all the time, especially when mobile. While I agree that is a possible way out, I think many android devices adapt android so it may not work. In the case of my cheap android device, which I don't really use, it may be an option. I'm not sure about the galaxy S1 though as it could make it a brick. From what I read on the galaxy S1, there are ports but do not have all the facilities.
